This pub was nominated as one of the best in Outer London by Londonist readers.
The Irish chain isn't the most intuitive place to look for London's best boozers, but the one in Muswell Hill is a real humdinger. Food and drink-wise, it's the usual O'Neill's experience with competent but unexciting meals, a selection of chilled Irish beer, and four draught pumps that occasionally get interesting.
Architecturally, though, O'Neill's is unique in London. The bar has colonised the interior of an old terra-cotta church, and very nice it looks too. The plum seats are up on the mezzanine level — a prime-A location for people watching. With live sport, a pool table, fruit machines, live music and table football, all the other forms of pub entertainment are well covered. Plus, it's massive, so you're always guaranteed a seat.
