A true celebration of 20th century cinema, The Cinema Museum in Kennington is crammed full of cinematic memorabilia including carpets, uniforms, ticket machines, signage, projectors and more. The collection is utterly unique and most of the objects on display were collected during the late 1970s when many high street cinemas were being demolished.
It is a veritable treasure trove, and yet this labour of love is under threat. Despite support from many corners, including Charlie Chaplin's family (he spent time here as a child when the building was the Lambeth Workhouse), the site of this priceless museum is currently for sale.

Find The Cinema Museum at 2 Dugard Way (off Renfrew Road), SE11 4TH. The Museum is open most days but it is essential that you book in advance over phone or email as you can only view the collection as part of a guided tour.
