Ever Wondered What This Line In Guildhall Yard's Pavement Is For?

The ancient town of Londinium was founded around the year AD 43. The settlement was built next to the River Thames, on the site we currently know as the City of London. Much has changed since then, but some remarkable remnants of London's Roman history still remain. The Roman Amphitheatre, hidden six metres below ground underneath Guildhall Art Gallery, is one such reminder of our city's ancient past and absolutely worth a visit.

London's Roman Amphitheatre is located below Guildhall Art Gallery on Guildhall Yard (off Gresham Street), EC2V 7HH and admission is free. Find out more about opening times and upcoming tours on the City of London website.
