Feria de Londres showcases Spanish culture

Things to do

FERIA DE LONDRES: Put your best flamenco frock on (what do you mean, it's in the wash?) and get yourself down to South Bank for a festival of all things Spanish. The Feria de Londres is the closest you'll get to a traditional Spanish spring festival here in the capital. Flamenco dancing and live music form the bulk of the entertainment, along with food and drink stalls serving up paella, tapas and other traditional Spanish dishes. Bernie Spain Gardens (near Oxo Tower), free entry, just turn up, 24-26 May

THEATRE FESTIVAL: Theatre, culture and comedy are all part of The Little Theatre Festival, a weekend-long family-friendly event at pop-up theatre The Roundabout. Highlights today include a children's show, and comedian Ed Gamble. East Village (Stratford), various prices, book ahead, 24-27 May

LEONARDO DA VINCI: Artist, scientist and engineer Leonardo da Vinci is covered in this new exhibition, which marks 500 years since his death. More than 200 of his drawings from the Royal Collection go on display side by side, offering an insight into his way of thinking in the fields of painting, sculpture, architecture, anatomy, engineering, cartography, geology and botany. The Queen's Gallery (Buckingham Palace), £13.50, book ahead, 24 May-13 October. There's also an unrelated talk about Leonardo da Vinci at the National Gallery tonight.

Jazz Verse Jukebox celebrates its 10th anniversary

SECRET RIVERS: We have to admit, we're pretty excited about new exhibition Secret Rivers, which explores London's little-known and lost waterways. Archaeological artefacts, art, photography and film are all used to tell the story of streams, rivers and brooks in the capital, many of which have been lost over time. Museum of London Docklands, free, just turn up, 24 May-27 October

CLOSE SHAVES: Curator Justin Saddington talks about close shaves and lucky escapes in the military. He uses objects from the museum's collection to tell stories of death-defying battlefield escapes, and the effect they had on the soldiers involved. National Army Museum (Chelsea), free, book ahead, 11.30am

Dance the night away at The Candlelight Club

CANDLELIGHT CLUB: Have a clandestine night out at The Candlelight Club, a 1920s speakeasy style event which takes the form of a jazz age garden party this time around. Think Bertie Wooster, cucumber sandwiches, and plenty of gin. The house band provides the soundtrack, and there's a choice of dinner ticket, or just the dancing. Secret location, £25-£40, book ahead, from 7pm

SHREK LATE: For the first time, the Shrek's Adventure attraction stays open late... for adults only. When the kids have gone home for the night, over 18s can take a special tour of Far, Far Away, with 10 interactive shows featuring characters from the films, plus a 4D bus experience with Donkey driving. Drinks are available from the Poison Apple pub throughout the evening. Shrek's Adventure (South Bank), £29, book ahead, from 7pm

Open Air Cinema at the RAF Museum

INNOSKATE: A panel of skate community leaders, policy makers, urban designers, and sport industry executives come together to discuss skateboarding in all its glory. Find out about the ethos of skateboarding culture, ahead of its debut as an Olympic sport at Tokyo 2020. Here East Gallery (Stratford), free, book ahead, 7.30pm-9pm

JAZZ VERSE JUKEBOX: Legendary jazz and poetry night Jazz Verse Jukebox celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special line-up of wordsmiths and singers. Expect influences from Africa, India and Europe as jazz improv is intertwined with spoken word. Hoxton Hall, from £8, book ahead, 7.30pm

OPEN AIR CINEMA: Kick off your weekend watching a film in an open air cinema, surrounded by hangars full of aircraft. See 2018 hit Black Panther tonight, with food and drink available to buy, and deckchairs available to hire. RAF Museum (Hendon), £12.50/£10 (+£5 for deckchair hire if required), book ahead, doors 7.30pm/film 9pm
