Learn To Love Your Lunch Break At These London Spots

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Heineken 0.0®.

Here's a statistic for you: a OnePoll survey found that one in four Brits don't take a lunch break. That means 27% of nine-to-five workers stay put in front of their screens. All. Day. It's not healthy, and Heineken 0.0® is doing something about it. Here are six alternative things to get up to in your London lunch break, which can all involve a guilt-free beer...

1. A stroll in the park

London is one of the greenest cities in the world; in fact 33% of the capital is vegetated green space. Whether your office is near to a rambling royal park, a winding riverside path or leafy garden square, get out there and drink it in. You could even pack a picnic — along with a Heineken 0.0®, of course.

2. A drink in the pub

The liquid lunch is out of favour in London. Yet over 777,000 people in the UK — that's 24% of full-time employees — say they'd be more likely to take a lunch break if they had a strong menu choice of alcohol-free drinks. Ditch the dull soda and lime, order a Heineken 0.0® — and you'll come back to the office feeling sprightlier than when you left.

3. Pick up something from the market

Enjoy a colourful lunch at Borough Market

From Borough to Whitecross Street, and Leather Lane to Portobello Road, London knows how to put on a market — and many of them are open at lunch. Have an infinitely better time than staying at your desk and watching YouTube, by bagging yourself an artisan pastry, pasta or paella. It needn't even be something edible: find anything from homemade crafts to books to antiques. Then come back to the office and make your colleagues jealous with your finds.

4. Do something different

That's right, you can do this in London. Image: Shutterstock

Lunchtime in London is your oyster — so make sure you're using it do to something different (once in a while at least). Brave the rapids at Lee Valley White Water Centre. Soak up some Chopin at a free lunchtime concert. Take a guided tour, and learn something new about the area where you work every day. Whatever you decide to do, make it something refreshing.

5. A meeting with wow factor

Sometimes lunchtime meetings are unavoidable. But at least with a Heineken 0.0® you can choose where to have it. Instead of calling your colleagues into the meeting room — or getting your client to meet you at the office — go for somewhere with a bit of wow factor. Like the bombed out ruins of St Dunstan in the East, now a magical, plant-covered hideaway.

6. An after-gym refresher

52% of British gym goers use it as a space for social interaction. And while cracking open a cold one at the gym is usually a big no-no, the growing trend in non-alcoholic beers means that it's now OK to take a swig after you've done a session on the spin machine. Working out in your lunch break also frees up time for you to do what you want in the evening. Winning at life.
