5 Awesome Things To Do At Alexandra Palace's Fireworks Festival

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Alexandra Palace.

Watching your neighbour's piddly display from your bedroom window is nice enough, but if you're craving a little more pizzazz this Bonfire Night, round up your mates and head to Alexandra Palace's spectacular Fireworks Festival, taking place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 November. Here are five things you don't want to miss when you get there.

1. Fireworks with a DJ Yoda soundtrack plus an epic laser display

Not content with setting off a dazzling fireworks display to the tunes of a specially created soundtrack from award winning cut and paste hip hop artist DJ Yoda, Alexandra Palace has gone the extra mile and organised an epic laser show too. There aren't many places in London that can rival the panoramic views you get from the top of that hill, so pack a blanket and hot foot your way to the top for a truly unforgettable weekend.

When? Friday - Laser show: 8.30pm | Fireworks: 9pm. Saturday - Laser show: 7.30pm | Fireworks: 8pm

2. Guzzle bier at the German Bier Fest

Missing out on Oktoberfest this year? Make sure you're among 6,000 others who'll be lederhosen it up at Alexandra Palace's German Bier Festival. You'll be served jugs of Meister Pils by an army of Bavarian waitresses, and without having to splash out on a trip to Munich. Friday's headliner is the mighty Supreme Queen, while top Elvis tribute Lee Memphis King will be rockin 'n' rolling with a 10-piece band on Saturday. Arrive early to hear pop classics from Club De Fromage and more. Prost!

When you're booking display tickets, look for the 'add on' option to book tickets to the German Bier Fest.

When? Friday 5pm-11pm. Saturday 4pm-11pm

3. Join the March of the Phoenix Parade

The annual parade sees a convincingly costumed array of fire performers, aerialists, roaming performers and drummers and dancers all telling the story of the Phoenix’s rebirth from the flames. Plus, look out for motorised animatronics, flame jets, flaming cauldrons and giant puppets. This is one spooky spectacle you don't want to miss.

When? The parade takes place before the laser and fireworks display on both nights.

4. Fill your face with street food and get your jig on to Jazzie B

It just wouldn't be a proper London festival without the obligatory street food and craft beer stalls, and Alexandra Palace does not disappoint. At StrEATlife, you'll find over 30 of the city's top street food vendors all huddled around a huge tent, which'll be pumping out live music all night. On Friday night Jazzie B (Soul II Soul) will be spinning tunes to hoards of craft beer-drinking movers and shakers (that's you).

5. Fire and family fun

Got little ones in tow? This festival has something to please big and small kids alike. In the newly expanded family area, you'll find a bonfire to dwarf all others, a special fire performance and a funfair. Traders will be serving up burgers, waffles, pizza, crepes and more, with kid friendly portions available for tiny rumbling bellies.

Plus, you don't need to wait for Christmas to get your ice skates on — just head to the Palace's permanent ice rink. Remember to purchase additional tickets if you'd like to book a public ice skating session or the evening ice disco.

Don't forget to tag those hazy, atmospheric firework photos with the hashtag #APfireworksfest.
