Steer away from the high street this December and make your way to the Crafty Fox Night Market. It features the wares of over 60 skilled designers; from prints to jewellery, homeware to toys. There are workshops where you can make your own gifts too, while a DJ makes you bop while you shop.

The Christmas Fayre takes place at the Museum of London Docklands on 8 December, 4-9pm

Dickens' Christmas walk

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a mention of Scrooge. Find out about the man behind the character, on a Charles Dickens walk around the city. Also discover the inspiration behind some of Dickens's other best-known creations, as you're guided to locations he used in his books. Tickets, which should be booked in advance, are £20 for this two-hour meander, which takes place on 3, 17 and 23 December. Tours leave from the Museum of London at 3pm. Dressing warm is advised.

Victorian Santa's grotto

Experience a vintage twist on Christmas. Running from 2-23 December, children will experience a fully festive Victorian Walk at the Museum of London, or Sailortown at the Docklands location, on their way to Santa's grotto. With the sounds of Victorian carols in the background this visit will be one to remember. Victorian Santa will give each child who visits a gift, as well as seasonal greetings and a 'ho ho ho'. Tickets are from £7 (includes gift), and take-home photographs will be charged extra.
