This London Laundrette Is Made Entirely Out Of Denim
This map of London is made entirely out of denim. It's even accurate enough to recognise parks and major roads.

The Thames: now available in denim.

Ian Berry 'paints' with denim so that a map of London, people sleeping and homely interior scenes are all carefully crafted out of the same material as our jeans.

An entire setting created out of denim, including the portrait above the fireplace.

It's amazing how each work has been created in layers, giving them so much depth. The attention to detail is immense, even the sides of the paintings covered in denim.

A denim sculpture is perched in the corner of the gallery, a is self-portrait of the artist.

Berry has created a desk, cushions and many more items out of denim to complete the scene.

Step downstairs and the denim world expands into a full launderette — washing machines stand idle while baskets full of jeans sit on the floor. On the walls, scenes from London launderettes are replicated — an ode by the artist to a dying part of community life in London.

A launderette recreated in denim awaits downstairs.

But be fast: just like a pair of dodgy jeans off the market, this exhibition doesn't last long.

Catto Gallery presents Ian Berry: Behind Closed Doors at Gallery Different, 14 Percy street, W1T 1DR until 30 November. Entrance is free.
