If Phileas Fogg Did Magic... Morgan & West, Wilton’s Music Hall 5

We want to know everything these days, from string theory to the identity of the world’s hairiest man (go on, Google it) — so give those enquiring minds a rest and suspend disbelief for one evening with the time-travelling magicians Morgan & West.

If you were to mix Phileas Fogg, David Copperfield, and an east London hipster, then the result would be this pair. They’re at the funny end of eccentric, and this show is more comedy than magic — although, don’t get us wrong, the tricks are still very impressive.

Expect the usual magic bread-and-butter fayre of card guessing, blade swallowing and even sawing a man in half, but with a bucket of Britishness thrown in. But the best bit? Their wit is as razor sharp as the objects they’re gulping down.

So much effort is put into making this show seamless, and yet these are two of the most likeable and effortless magicians we’ve seen. Expect a great value fun and left-field magic show ideal for kidults and children alike, with a lot of obligatory audience participation. Catch this show at the beautiful Wilton’s Music Hall until Saturday, or catch the double act at Udderbelly on 21 June.

Morgan & West, Wilton’s Music Hall, Graces Alley, E1 8JB. From £11, until 28 April 2018.
