Got an old coat you no longer use? London's annual charity coat collection returns this November.

The Wrap Up London campaign is now in its ninth year, and makes it easy for Londoners to donate old coats to those in need, by holding collections at tube stations. Simply take your too-small trench or past-season parka with your on your commute, and hand it to the Wrap Up London volunteers at selected stations.

This year's collection takes place Monday 11-Wednesday 13 November, 7am-11am each day. The following stations are taking part:

  • Canary Wharf
  • King's Cross
  • Liverpool Street
  • London Bridge
  • Victoria
  • Waterloo

There's also a collection point at Broadgate Centre in the City.

After the collection dates, the coats are taken to storage spaces across London and sorted, before being distributed to other charities who make sure they reach those who need them — the homeless, refugees, children living in poverty and people fleeing domestic violence.

We spent some time with the Wrap Up London crew on a collection day in 2015 and witnessed the selflessness of Londoners first hand.

If you've not got an old coat to get rid of, you can still help the Wrap Up London campaign. They need volunteers at the station and in the sorting centres, and also require van drivers to move the donations around the capital. Financial contributions to keep the campaign going are always welcome too.
