London Bridge Station Shortlisted For RIBA Stirling Prize

London Bridge Station is one of six projects shortlisted for the 2019 RIBA Stirling Prize.

The RIBA-Stirling Prize rewards the building that has 'made the greatest contribution to the evolution of architecture in the past year' — and there's no doubt the busy railway hub has undergone an evolution.

The five other buildings shortlisted are a rural opera house, a Scottish whisky distillery, an energy-efficient council housing project, a high-tech visitor centre, and a contemporary art gallery.

RIBA President, Ben Derbyshire, said:

These six buildings could hardly be more diverse in typology and scale — from a rustic stable block-turned-theatre to a vast national railway station. But what they have in common — ground-breaking innovation, extraordinary creativity and the highest quality materials and detailing — sets them apart, rightfully earning them a chance to win the highest accolade in architecture.

Bloomberg’s European HQ was last year's winner. This year’s victor will be announced on 8 October 2019.
