Dust off your Hypercolor t-shirt, load up your Walkman, and do the Electric Slide down to Shoreditch — Blockbuster Video is reopening. Well, for two days, anyway. And it's only stocking one movie.
The pop-up pastiche store — appearing at 133-135 Bethnal Green Road on 17-18 September 2018 — is giving away 1,989 copies of comedy-superhero sequel Deadpool 2, in special VHS packaging.
If you somehow manage to dig out your old Blockbuster Video membership card (ah, remember those?), you can queue jump and claim a free copy of the movie. Otherwise, you'll need to perform your 'super power' to a cashier... sounds potentially cringeworthy.
At the chain's peak, 528 Blockbuster Video stores graced the UK. The last one in the country shut in December 2013.
The special Deadpool 2 Blockbuster Video opens at 12pm on Monday 17 September, at 133-135 Bethnal Green Road. It's also open on Tuesday 18 September. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
