Enchanted Eltham: A First Look At The Magical Light Festival

Light festival Enchanted Eltham is back for Christmas 2019, with light tunnels, talking trees, fairy gardens and an illuminated maze in Eltham Palace's grounds.

The family-friendly trail loops twice around the outside of the Palace, so it's not too far for kids to walk. There's plenty to keep them occupied, with a maze created entirely from fairy lights to find their way around, and a talking face projected onto a tree, regaling stories of his life at Eltham.

The route does tend to get a little congested at points, with narrow pathways at photogenic spots, so be prepared to wait if you're mainly in it for the Instagram shots. Finish up with hot drinks and snacks at the cafe, a mosey around the gift shop, and a ride or two in the fairground. Here are some of the highlights from this year:

Enchanted Eltham 2019 takes place across three weekends, 5-22 December 2019. Book ahead: 5-8 December | 12-15 December | 19-22 December. Like what you see? Check out these other light festivals in London this winter.
