Celebrate Dustin Hoffman's 80th Birthday At BFI Southbank

This is a sponsored article on behalf of the BFI.

The BFI Southbank has just released its exciting schedule for June and July, and there's a whole season dedicated to Dustin Hoffman. To celebrate his 80th birthday, there will be screenings of classic Hoffman films, so you can revisit, or discover, this Hollywood legend.

The Dustin Hoffman extravaganza runs from 1 June - 28 July, spanning his career from his early films to his latest roles, like Roald Dahl's Esio Trot and his directorial debut Quartet. Get a look at young Dustin with part one of the season in June, which focuses on his early roles.

This is the actor who helped pave the way for a new generation of Hollywood men in the late 1960s — with The Graduate (1967), he challenged notions that men needed conventional good looks to star in a film.

The Graduate is celebrating a birthday too. The classic will be re-released on 23 June in a brand new restored 4k digital print format to mark its 50th anniversary. If you're a fan of the film that earned Hoffman an Oscar nomination, or have always wanted to tick it off your 'to-watch' list, now's your chance.

Hoffman's a pretty flexible actor, playing characters as diverse as a 121 year old in Little Big Man, and seedy conman Rizzo in Midnight Cowboy. The BFI Southbank season wants everyone to realise how versatile this guy is — Hoffman sure can act.

Hoffman's early films proved his dynamic skill and saw him working with some of the best directors of his time. See him in one of the greatest American political thrillers, All The President's Men, or alongside Steve McQueen in Papillon, based on a true story of two men trying to escape from prison.

Witness him play controversial comedian in Lenny or settle down for a screening of Straw Dogs and you'll have a newfound appreciation for Hoffman's incredible skill. Head back to the BFI Southbank in July, when Hoffman's later films will be screened,  continuing the Dustin extravaganza.

This has to be the ultimate 80th celebration — think of it as a giant birthday movie marathon. Check out the Hoffman line-up, and the general schedule for everything happening at the BFI Southbank in June and July.
