London's Best New Food And Drink Openings In June

Launch dates are liable to get moved about — we've listed details where available but check in with the venues for the latest word on their openings.

Bite Me Burger Co are conquering London one slider at a time.
Alright, eight sliders at a time.

Bite Me Burger Co, Holborn - pop-up

What's better than a burger? Many burgers. And even better than many burgers: ones created by chef Adam Rawson, two-time winner of the annual Slider Decider.

Thank all the powers that he decided to go with sliders, because the beauty of multiple tiny burgers is not having to choose between the Duck Me — duck meat, smoked hoisin, Swiss cheese and truffle — and the BC — beef, bacon, brie, crispy onion and cream cheese aioli. Buy them by the pair, the four or the sharing feast and get stuck in and sticky. Remember this isn't going to be a lasting thing in Holborn — a permanent site further west is being talked about for later in the year — so eat your fill while they're still sharing a space with Cha Chaan Teng.

Bite Me Burger Co, 38 Kingsway, WC2B 6EY. Open 5 June, with a 50% off soft launch 5 - 7 June.

Smoke & Salt, Brixton

One more reason to love Pop Brixton, with the arrival of this smoking, brining, curing duo's first permanent site.

'Modern dining, ancient techniques' is how chefs Remi Williams and Aaron Webster pitch their offering. At their Chapel Bar residency last year, that translated to dishes like radishes served with schmaltz — Ashkenazi-style salty, rendered chicken fat — and spring lamb with vivid green garlic sauce and pickled okra. We're hoping for more of the same. And for the return of their simple and brilliant Guinness-glazed bread twists.

Made of Dough, Peckham

Lean dough, long fermentation and a generous hand with their top quality toppings all set these guys apart from the pizza crowd. Their Pop Brixton stand — and a healthy helping of sobrasada — even managed to reconcile us to the existence of white pizza. Dark magic. Now they're opening in Peckham, with a new sideline in gelato shakes and, apparently, dutty riddims.

Made of Dough, 182 Bellenden Road, SE15 4BW. Open 9 June.

Magpie, Mayfair

This one's shrouded in mystery — no website at time of writing, no opening date more specific than 'June', no booking system, no menu released. Doesn't stop excitement for this Heddon Street arrival being at fever-pitch for anybody who's visited its older sister, Pidgin in Hackney.

Pidgin is a small beauty of a bistro, running Asian-inspired set menus. There's talk of dim sum, trolley service and an a la carte menu at Magpie, so it can't be that similar to its sibling — but if it comes with half the skill and accomplished calm, it'll be a banger.

Magpie, 10 Heddon Street, W1B 4BX.

Radio Alice, Clapham

A second site for the Hoxton pizzeria with the unorthodox pizza approach: make the base, bake the base and then — only then — add the toppings. Italian friends we've run this by have been varying degrees of horrified, intrigued and 'yeah, obvs' about this — particularly our mates from Milan, where Radio Alice is already a known quantity thanks to their Italian pizzerias, Berbere. Now you can investigate and form your own views via their new Clapham site.

Radio Alice, 67 Venn Street, SW4 0AU.
