Looking to get into the world of art collecting? You need to know about Talented Art Fair. Since its inaugural outing in 2017, it's become London's most exciting showcase, where the public can get their hands on unique pieces by sought-after artists. And with live painting, music, and over 2000 original artworks and limited edition prints for sale, the third edition of the fair is set to be a right corker.
From Friday 1 March to Sunday 3 March, discover 90 of the most talented and in-demand contemporary artists in the Old Truman Brewery, just off Hanbury Street. That includes award-winners and creators who have exhibited at hallowed institutions ranging from the Royal Academy to the Saatchi Gallery.
With original artworks starting at about £300 and a ceiling cap of £5000, Talented Art Fair is a great starting point for fledgling collectors. If you fancy the first pick of the crop, you're best off opting for the private view, which runs from 6pm-9pm on 1 March (tickets here). But if you just can't wait until then, here's a handful of a few of this year's highlights to peruse.
London-based artist Lubna Speitan specialises in abstracts, portraits, and atmospheric nightscapes, often depicting her home city — like this moody rendering of Battersea's Albert Bridge. Her painting, Blackheath Tea Hut, won the Art Gemini Painting Prize 2018.
Brian Parker trained as a scientist before 'discovering a deep need to paint' on an Access to Art and Design course. A true aesthete, his work is characterised by clean, simple lines and a bold yet sophisticated use of colour. He is an Art Call 2018 and Clore Gallery finalist.
Jana Nicole's mixed-media collages are infused with nostalgia, mixing cultural iconography with the abstract. Her most recent collection, Animal Attraction, delves into the psyche of animals.
Oliver Winconek was featured on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2017, where he painted actor Trevor Eve from life, and has exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery and Royal Academy. His oil paintings, created in his narrowboat studio, are influenced by the likes of Lucien Freud, Jenny Saville and David Hockney — though he counts music as his primary source of inspiration.
