A special series of late night openings at Kew Gardens invites visitors to see Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures in a whole new light (or lack thereof).

Chihuly at Kew is an open-air exhibition of Dale Chihuly's colourful, eye-catching glass sculptures. The 30+ photogenic works have been in situ in the botanical gardens since April, and have proved popular with visitors.

But they haven't been seen by the public at night... until now. Chihuly Nights see Kew Gardens staying open late, and the sculptures illuminated under the evening sky to showcase their dazzling colours.

Wander around the gardens and conservatories as darkness falls, to a specially commissioned soundtrack featuring wind instruments and vocals to reflect Chihuly’s use of glass and breath.

Food and drink is available to buy at Kew's new Pavilion Bar and Grill throughout, and it's recommended that you bring a torch — and dress for the weather, as it's an open-air event.

Sounds like a magical night out to us.

Chihuly Nights at Kew Gardens takes place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 15 August-26 October 2019. Tickets are £18 (£12 members) and should be booked in advance.
