There's an art explosion happening in Hackney Wick.

The entire area is being transformed into a massive outdoor art gallery for Hackney Wicked DIY Open Studios. It's London’s 'biggest open studio event', and is a combination of art exhibitions, workshops, music and dance performances held across Hackney Wick and Fish Island.

The studios participating include SPACE Open, Pearl & Coutts, Stour Space, Dollyolli and Old Bachs. Each studio has its own art exhibitions, activities, and music and dance performances.

Spend your weekend drifting one studio to another, or hitting up the various workshops hosted by House of Hackney Wicked. Fancy decorating your undies with your own protest slogan? Or creating your own sustainable bag out of recycled fashion bags? Then you know where to go.

For those more into the area’s history, you can take a one hour-long tour of The Wick with Simon Cole, leading a walk called Hidden Hackney Wick: Uncensored. He's been exploring Hackney Wick’s secret nooks and crannies for the past ten years, and no one knows the area better.

End the evening with drinks at one The Wick’s many, many, bars — such as Studio 9294, The Yard, Bar 90 or Giant Steps — where you can ease off into the evening with live music performances.

Hackney Wicked DIY Open Studios Friday 26 July-Sunday 28 July. Find out more here.
