Damien Hirst has made the Tate's Christmas by gifting them 4 of his art works. The infamous cow and calf bisected and suspended in formaldehyde, "Mother and Child Divided" is the Turner Prize winning crowning glory. This is a high profile donation, timed for maximum festivity and goodwill but... [continue]

While most will undoubtedly be snuggling up on the sofa, warmed chocolate cupped in one palm, tv remote in the other, the residents of East Barnet will be endeavouring upon a very different xmas eve: as was the tradition back in 1932, those with a ghoulish disposition will be flocking to Church Hill Road, near Oak Hill Park, in the hope to catch a glimpse of the former Sir Geoffrey de Mandeville, a headless...... Forgive us for suggesting you go a venue two nights in a row, but tomorrow night but this sounds ace, if painful. Tomorrow is the latest installment of Cringe London. Based on a New York idea (of course), the night invites you to listen to other people's teenage diaries... [continue]

So this week, we spent all our money on cold remedies and extra balmy tissues for our beleaguered noses. The plan is to be back and fighting fit by Monday so here are some of the things we could all get up to this week for very little wonga. Now Londonist is rather partial to food, so this one may be worth checking out. We're not talking gourmet and celeb chef here - the festival is all about celebrating the area's multi-flava-ed...... You may remember that we're not exactly lukewarm about this place. We were even up for finding love here. I guess you could say we're fans. Nothing has changed with a change in exhibition: Sleeping and Dreaming is marvellous and you must go. For a start, it's free. Nought pee. You can just swan through the doors, turn left and there you are. But that's where it gets dark and you immediately start watching...... [continue]

It's that time of year again. Time for Christmas shopping, panto and end-of-year pub quizzes. Ah, December. In their last film pub quiz spectacular or the year, the You're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat team has pulled out all the stops, and you'd best brush up on your film trivia. If you've not been to one of these amazingly fun nights before, and have an otherwise boring Wednesday night lying in front of you,...... [continue]

Advent is upon us. Hanukkah starts on Wednesday. Office parties are already everywhere. Tis the season to be jolly, jolly, jolly but we know this can be draining, emotionally and financially. Don't let the state of your wallet throw you over the edge. We can't afford to buy tickets to the BFI IMAX all-nighter next weekend and we're not allowed to enter our own competition. But we can do the following splendid things for...... [continue]
