Background:

• Londonist used to be The Big Smoker written and edited by original founders Rob Hinchcliffe and Euan Mitchell, until we joined forces with Gothamist in order to take over the world. In doing so Londonist became the first international addition to the expanding -ist network.
• Londonist is one of the most widely read blogs in London with an average 4,000 unique visitors per day.
• The Guardian awarded our old incarnation first prize for best design in its 2003 Best of British Blogging awards.
• Londonist has been nominated in the Best British or Irish Weblog category of the Bloggies for two years running and was nominated as Best European Weblog in 2008.
• Londonist has also been chosen as one of Time Out's 50 top London websites, citing us as "a lively and eclectic ongoing conversation about the capital, put together with real passion and insight." Our Free Wifi Map was given a special mention.
• Londonist has been featured in, and linked from The Times, The Guardian (more than once), and even the Scotsman (a feature on city blogs).
