Daniel Radcliffe, Mike Colter, Ben Wheatley: the stars are out in London this month, as American Airlines Presents Empire Live comes to The O2.
On 23-25 September, Empire — the world's biggest movie magazine — packs exclusive screenings, filmmaker Q&As and family activities into one incredible weekend of film and entertainment.
All star cast
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe kicks things off with a gala opening night, introducing not one, but two of his new films, Swiss Army Man and Imperium.
Star of Luke Cage — the next big Netflix/Marvel collaboration — Mike Colter, presents exclusive content from the show ahead of its release. And Ben Wheatley — the Brit director behind High-Rise and Sightseers — previews footage from his latest film Free Fire, starring Brie Larson and Cillian Murphy.
Talking of amazing previews, producer Osnat Shurer is doing a Q&A about the latest Disney animation, Moana.
Family fun
That's right — Empire Live isn't just for grown-ups. In fact there's loads for families with budding film fanatics to get stuck into as well. For little ones, there's a Frozen sing-a-long, and a double bill of The Gruffalo and Stick Man, featuring live costume characters.
And for older kids who ain't afraid of no ghost, there's a screening of the 1984 classic Ghostbusters, in which the audience gets slimed every time someone in the film does!
Movie masterclasses
Fancy a taste of the industry yourself? Empire Live offers movies masterclasses, with experts in their field. Explore cinematography with Dod Mantle (Dredd, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire) and Seamus McGarvey (Atonement, Avengers Assemble, Godzilla). Try your hand at costume design with Alexandra Byrne, the industry's leading light in period costuming. Have a go at film composing with Ivor Novello-winning Daniel Pemberton. Plus join in with an all-star panel of filmmakers for Women On Screen.
Special screenings
Add to the mix a 10th anniversary screening of This Is England (with special guests in attendance), an extended edition of The Martian, a Pixar animation marathon, plus your chance to see Game of Thrones' bloodiest episode on the big screen, as well as classic movies revisited including Aliens, Stand By Me and Easy Rider, and you've got yourself one unmissable movie event. Make sure you're on that red carpet.
