IKEA Is Opening A DIY Restaurant In London

Self-assembly furniture company IKEA is moving into self-assembly dinners at it opens a pop-up restaurant in Shoreditch.

The Dining Club is a DIY restaurant where diners create their own meal for up to 20 people, under the guidance of a head chef — and it's completely free. Choose a brunch, lunch or dinner slot and take over the restaurant, with all food and drink provided by IKEA.

It's part of a campaign by the Swedish company to get people to spend more time cooking and eating together.

Sound too much like hard work? An IKEA cookware shop and cafe will open on the same site, for anyone to visit (no booking required) — and yes, those famous meatballs will be making an appearance on the cafe menu.

Alongside this, a series of free food workshops are taking place, including guidance on how to reduce food waste, and tips on how to make cooking exciting for children. See the full programme and book online.

The Dining Club by IKEA is open 10-25 September at N&C Showrooms 3-10 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6PG.
