Muswell Hill's Alexandra Palace opened in 1873 but was destroyed by a fire and had to be rebuilt in 1875. It was intended as an entertainment venue and to this day houses an ice rink, boating lake, skate park and more. There are currently plans to restore the Victorian theatre.

From 1936-1981, the BBC transmitted programmes from here using the radio mast which can still be seen today.
