See Big Showbiz Names Read Out Personal Letters
Well look who it is

Benedict Cumberbatch, Maureen Lipman, Bob Geldof, Thom York, Ian McKellen, Caitlin Moran: they've all taken part in Letters Live.

A new series of the hugely popular format — in which big names read out remarkable letters from notable people — takes place at Freemasons Hall in Covent Garden this October, with tickets on sale from 22 July.

Here's what Cumberbatch himself has to say:

Letters Live is a truly unique experience that allows people from all ages and all walks of life to experience a moment of time in someone else’s life for a brief moment. Hearing their letters read aloud in such a magical setting allows us to share the happiness, sadness, excitement, and pain of that moment together.

More Letters Live legends

So there you have it. Just be warned that Letters Live likes to keep its celeb names under its belt. Much like a letter, the specific content remains a secret until it's opened up and read out.

Tickets for the next lot of Letters Live — taking place 4-8 October — go on sale on 22 July at 9am. Tickets available through Ticketmaster (booking fees apply).
