You may think of busking as just one man (or woman) and a guitar, standing on a lonely pitch, strumming and singing away (more often than not, a rendition of Here Comes the Sun), but there's more to it than that — and Busk In London Festival wants to prove it.
The festival will bring together London's best buskers — among them physical theatre performers, magicians, illusionists, circus acts, street dancers and musicians — for a weekend of free performances.
It begins with International Busking Day on 23 July, an event being celebrated in cities all over the world.
As well as watching performances, audiences can take part in 'Give it a Go' performance masterclasses led by the new Busk in London Academy and Morley College. Take a look at what's on offer here.
There's also an opportunity to join National Gallery experts for tours around the gallery, followed by an opportunity to create artworks in Trafalgar Square on the festival’s visual arts pitch.
The Gibson Guitar VIP tour bus will be in Trafalgar Square all weekend, with performers and the public able to climb aboard for selfies.
