Meet The Londoners Who Work With Tourists
Doreen, a pearly queen.

Ever been inside a West End souvenir shop, let alone met the person who runs it? Met somebody who runs a Punch and Judy show? Or spoken to a pearly queen?

As part of the BFI Britain on Film season, the Lexi Cinema and Hackney Picturehouse are showing eight short documentaries alongside archive footage of the Londoners who serve tourists.

The film is by 1000 Londoners, a five-year project that aspires to make a digital portrait of 1,000 people who identify with London. After the viewing at the Lexi Cinema there'll be a Q&A and a chance to meet both filmmakers and interviewees.

1000 Londoners: Postcard from London is on 18 July, 7pm, at the Lexi Cinema (tickets £7), and 25 July, 7pm, at Hackney Picturehouse (tickets £5).
