Marilyn Monroe's Private Letters Go On Display
Marilyn Monroe in The Prince and the Showgirl (1957). This is one of the dresses which will be on display.

Hand-written letters, clothes and jewellery which belonged to actress Marilyn Monroe go on display in Chelsea this week.

Marilyn Monroe: The Legacy Of A Legend brings together the public and private faces of the star. Some of her journals and letters will be seen by the public for the first time, along with her still life drawings and some of her poetry.

Costumes worn by Monroe in films such as No Business Like Showbusiness and Niagara will be paired up with her favourite jewellery. It'll likely be the only chance that Marilyn fans will have to see these items in the UK — after the exhibition, they're off on a world tour before being auctioned off in LA in November.

This beaded dress from Some Like It Hot (1959) is among the exhibits.

Marilyn Monroe: The Legacy Of A Legend takes place at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, 25 May-20 June. Entry is free.
