What The Heck Is Canary Wharf Station Doing In The New Star Wars Film Rogue One?

Apparently you can get a Jubilee line train to the Death Star — if we are to believe footage from the new trailer for upcoming Star Wars spin-off Rogue One. If you look around the 1:12 mark you can clearly see Felicity Jones's sassy rebel character running one way along the platform of the Norman Foster designed tube station then stormtroopers running the other way. Here's the proof:

Last train!
Rush hour!

We are pretty sure this is a deliberate nod by British director Gareth Edwards (who has been filming the movie in and around London) to the short film that kickstarted his career: Factory Farmed, which was his entry into the Sci-Fi London Film Festival's 48 Hour Challenge back in 2008.

He shot the short around Canary Wharf filming with a team name of Rebel Alliance too. You can see the short here, which looks very Star Wars like if you ask us. So now the circle is complete.

Star Wars: Rogue One is released on 16 December. Sci-Fi London Film Festival is on from 27 April — 6 May.
