Thousands of people are expected to demonstrate in central London today against government austerity policies. The People's Assembly is calling for an end to cuts and privatisation in the NHS, no more social housing sell-offs, a living wage for everyone and tuition fees to be scrapped.

Some reports say up to 100,000 people are expected to turn out. The demo will set off from Gower Street at 1pm and march to Trafalgar Square for a rally with speakers including Green leader Natalie Bennett and shadow chancellor John McDonnell.

The streets around Tottenham Court Road, Gower Street and the roads leading up to Trafalgar Square will obviously be very busy. If you plan to be in the area for other reasons today, you may find your route blocked by the protest or police.
