9 Must-Try London Fitness Challenges For April

It's London Marathon month. If you're feeling inspired by all those incredible runners doing the distance, try one of these fitness challenges yourself: maybe it'll be the first step to running the marathon next year.

HulaFit

London's top hula hoop-based fitness class, HulaFit has a new class in west London. Head to Merchant Square in Paddington, and look out for the hoops in the window behind the fountain in the lawn area.
6 April, The Pavilion, Merchant Square, W2 1LA, 6pm. £6

Spartan Sprint

Take part in the first ever Spartan Sprint at London's Olympic Park. The 5k course has more than 20 obstacles, which makes it perfect for novice Spartan challengers, as well as those who've done plenty of Spartan challenges before. Plus, there's a free beer for all competitors.
9 April, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, E20 2ST, 8am. Prices start at £62

LCC Ride The Country Estates of West London

Join a free, traffic-less LCC bike ride in west London, and discover why it was once THE place for top-notch country estates. The 21km ride starts from Richmond station; we recommend you catch the 12.58 train from Waterloo on the day.
9 April, Richmond Station, Richmond, 1.30pm. Free

Dead Drop: The HIIT Man Race

Become an operative and see if you can follow the clues and race to 'assassinate' the enemy agent over a 5-8k route. This espionage-and-workout combo is a great test of physical strength, fitness and nerves. Once again, there's a post-race free beer.
9 April, secret central London location, noon. £26

Psycle at Selfridges

Shopping or spinning? Now you can combine the two: Psycle, the high-intensity bike-based workout people, are opening a studio at Selfridges on Oxford Street. It's only a six-week pop-up, so don't wait around, book today.
Opens 11 April, Bodywork at Selfridges, Oxford Street

Surf's (Pop) Up

The Wellscene (the secret-fitness-class people) have teamed up with Gymbox to bring Surfset Fitness, the super-sweaty New York surfing class to London. Surfset simulates the demands of surfing without needing to be on the waves; it's a fitness class on a surfboard, designed to engage your core and stabilizer muscles. And it's lots of fun.
16 April, secret Shoreditch location, 9.30am or 10.45am. £35

London Zoo Stampede

Run 10k around London Zoo and Regent's Park this month, with the ZSL London Zoo Stampede, and help raise money to protect endangered species around the world.
17 April, ZSL London Zoo, 9.30am. Registration fee: around £30; fundraising target: £50

Thames Towpath 10

We love the sound of this scenic 10-mile London race along the Thames Towpath, including the towpath between Chiswick, Richmond and Kew. It's flat and fast, so a good chance to get that personal best.
17 April, Chiswick Bridge, Mortlake, 9am.

Positively Yoga in Hyde Park

Head to Hyde Park for an inspiring outdoor yoga class. This Vinyasa flow yoga is led by Mercedes Sieff, and designed to help you let go of your stress and tension as well as learning the principles of Positive Psychology.
25 April, Royal Parks Foundation Education Centre, Hyde Park, W2 2UH, 6.30pm. £15
