Steven Spielberg Returns To London For BFG

Roald Dahl’s London-set tale of dreams, giants and Snozzcumbers gets a magical makeover by Steven Spielberg in a new film due out next year. The teaser trailer below shows a misty, moonlit London where black cats creep across cobbled streets and an orphan is haunted by a hand the size of a house (yikes!).

Bridge Of Spies alumnus Mark Rylance plays the Big Friendly Giant of the title, while newcomer Ruby Thornhill is Sophie, the young girl to whom he teaches his secrets. Penelope Wilton also features as the Queen while Rebecca Hall plays her maid Mary who both end up helping take on evil, human-eating ogres like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement).

The 3D Disney film sees Spielberg return to London, having last captured the capital in the somewhat similar family blockbuster Hook nearly 25 years ago.

The BFG is released in UK cinemas on July 22, 2016.
