Wonder Woman And Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange Shoot In London

Hollywood loves London, otherwise why would it go to so much trouble blowing it up all the time? More mayhem is promised soon with two massive superhero movies that start shooting in the capital this week.

One is old girly favourite Wonder Woman, which apparently is not as silly as you might remember (now twirl and twirl again). The Amazonian warrior princess with the ‘lasso of truth’ (really) is now played by model Gal Gadot and she’s got Captain Kirk for a sidekick too. And here she is standing in front of Big Ben in a hoody with plenty of bling, so she must mean business.

The other is a new one you might not know — Doctor Strange — which is filming on location in London and at the Longcross Sudios on the edge of the M25. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role, though whether he can make the role any stranger than the transgender model All he’s playing in Zoolander 2 (trailer here, skip to 0:37), which has landed him in scalding water with everyone including comedian Sara Pascoe, remains to be seen.

This one also features Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is rumoured to be playing super-villain Baron Mordo and Tilda Swinton who is Tibetan mystic the Ancient One (so absolutely nothing silly about this one either). Here’s a picture snatched during an earlier part of the shoot in Nepal where it looks more like Cumbo and Edgy are in fact playing supertramps.

Doctor Strange is due out in 2016, Wonder Woman in 2017.
