Swim In The Slipstream Of London 2012 Athletes

London Aquatics Centre? Tick. Lee Valley White Water Centre? Tick. Fancy frolicking in another London 2012 Olympics venue? Good. Grab your swimsuit and jump into The Serpentine.

Charity Parkinson's UK is looking for volunteers to take part in a swimming race in The Serpentine in Hyde Park, the same waters used for marathon swimming and triathlon events in London 2012.

The 110m race is split into four categories: men, women, 7-11 year olds and 12-16 year olds, with heats and a final race for each category. Prizes and medals are up for grabs for the stealthiest of swimmers.

There's a £10 entry fee for each person, and swimmers are expected to collect sponsorship too (with a prize for the swimmer who raises the most). If you don't fancy taking the plunge yourself, spectators can come along for £1 — food and entertainment will be on offer. After all, someone needs to hold the towels.

Swim The Serpentine takes place on 4 October, and participants need to register in advance.
