Although it celebrates the big 5-0 this year, the BT Tower has been mainly off limits to the public for the last three decades. But next month, there's a rare chance to ascend the tower and enjoy the views from the famous revolving floor.

An evening at the BT Tower is an annual fundraising event where the public can buy tickets for "flights" to the 34th floor. This year, the flights take place throughout the afternoon and evening, meaning you have the choice between seeing London by daylight, or looking down on the twinkly lights at night.

Tickets are £50, which includes 45 minutes at the top, plus a glass of bubbly and a "sweet treat" to tuck into while you enjoy the views of London sprawling out below.

The event is raising funds for RedR, an international humanitarian organisation which trains people in disaster-prone areas in lifesaving skills.

An evening at the BT Tower takes place on 30 October. Tickets are £50 and need to be booked in advance (they're likely to sell out too). Flights start on the hour, from 1pm to 10pm.
