Some Animals Are Just Dicks. Find Out Why

What do you get if you put nine animal-loving comedians, a bird of prey and a bar in a room together in central London? Yes, possibly a mess, but hopefully a night of nature-themed hilarity too.

Those clever people behind Science Showoff, a science-themed open mic night, are putting down the bunsen burners and removing the goggles for one night to focus on animals. Animal Showoff is a fundraising comedy gig taking place at London Zoo next month.

Regular Science Showoff MC Steve Cross leads the on-stage action, joined throughout the evening by nine animal experts, who will be poking fun at the animals they love and loathe. A bird of prey (and its handler) will be doing the rounds for those who want to get up close and personal to the animal kingdom too.

On a more serious note, there will be a chance to see animal taxidermy confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade.

All money raised from the event goes towards vulture conservation projects. They may not be nature's prettiest or sexiest offering, but they're an important part of the ecosystem.

Animal Showoff takes place at London Zoo on 9 September from 7pm. Tickets are £10 and need booking in advance. Age 18+.
