Head to Greenwich this August Bank Holiday to test your sea legs and enjoy a spectacular display of Tall Ships.
From 27 August, two 'cathedrals of the ocean' will be moored in Greenwich. The Santa Maria Manuela from Portugal and the 110m-long Dar Mlodziezy from Poland are moored on Tall Ship Island, and offering tours to curious captains and sea dogs across the weekend from Friday to Monday. Step aboard a Thames Clipper ferry service to the ships, and enjoy an hour's tour.
They'll be joined by 13 Sail Royal Greenwich Tall Ships, based at Royal Arsenal Woolwich Pier, and making daily trips along the river to Greenwich and Tower Bridge during the festival.
Highlights across the weekend include the family-friendly Tall Ships Festival Day on Saturday, featuring live shanty music, street theatre and market stalls in Woolwich from 12noon until 10pm.
Fireworks fans are in for a treat too, as there'll be firework displays on the river at Greenwich at 9.15pm on Thursday, Friday and Sunday; and one at Woolwich Arsenal Riverside at 9.45pm on Saturday.
Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Festival 2015 runs 27 Aug-31 Aug, 12pm-10pm, at Maritime Greenwich, Cutty Sark Gardens SE10 9BL and Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, SE18 6FB. Riverside events are free. Booking is required for visiting the ships. Find out more on the website
