Every year, the Royal Society packs out its marbled halls with the very best of UK science. Researchers from all over the country gather together to demonstrate their discoveries and inventions to the likes of you and us. Simply walk in, wander around, play with the gadgets and ask a few questions.

A few of the highlights this year:

The Summer Science Exhibition is completely free, with no prebooking. Look out, too, for a programme of talks taking place around the main exhibits. These include a primer on the Rosetta comet mission, hands-on activities for kids and a touch of sci-comedy from our friends at Science Showoff. The science is fascinating, but the festival is also a chance to explore the gorgeous interior of this distinctive building.
