See Big-Name Art On Meridian Line Trail

Sensation by Damian Hirst is one of the sculptures on The Line art trail.

We love walking in London. And we love art. So the The Line — a three-mile art trail through east London — is a chance to tick two boxes at once, giving us more time to work on things like this.

There's a chance to see works by artists such as Damien Hirst, Martin Creed, Gary Hume and Eduardo Paolozzi, as you make your way along the route from Stratford to North Greenwich, broadly along the meridian line.

Singer-songwriter Scott McFarnon has reworked Johnny Cash's classic I Walk The Line (see what they did there?) to help raise awareness of the trail, which you can hear while watching this rather good accompanying video that gives you a flavour of what to expect along the three-mile walk (although hopefully less rain).

The Line opens with an event at Cody Dock on 23 May, 3pm-7pm featuring guided walks, talks and live music, exhibitions, films, a garden party and drinks and food stalls.
