Asteroid Day: A Cosmic Warning With A Stellar Line-Up

If only it were this easy.

It's time to get serious about the threat of asteroid impacts. That's the message from a growing body of scientists, astronauts and business leaders. What would it mean for our civilisation if a large rock were to strike the Earth, and how can we prevent such a catastrophe (insert limp joke about Bruce Willis here)? Asteroid Day on 30 June should kickstart the debate with a bang.

A special event at the Science Museum will include talks from numerous space big-wigs, including Sir Crispin Tickell, Lord Martin Rees, Lewis Dartnell, Alan Fitzsimmons, Debbie Lewis, Richard Crowther and Stuart Clark. The talks will be followed by a screening of 51º North, a new London-set film looking at the days leading up to an asteroid strike.

Tickets aren't cheap at £50, but this includes the IMAX film screening, talks by seven speakers and entry to an after-show party. Book you place here.

Asteroid Day, 30 June 2015 (the anniversary of the 1908 Siberian Tunguska event).
