Dulwich Park Gets Replacement For Stolen Hepworth Sculpture

Conrad Shawcross Dulwich Installation

The Hepworth piece stolen in 2011, via Zoe Craig.

The northern edge of Dulwich Park has three new pieces of public sculpture; sinuous shapes from the studio of Conrad Shawcross representing The Octave, The Fifth and The Fourth. The anfractuous artworks replace a sculpture by Barbara Hepworth, which was taken by suspected scrap metal thieves a few years ago.

Three Perpetual Chords, as the pieces are collectively known, was commissioned by Southwark Council in partnership with the Contemporary Art Society. The cast-iron structures will be officially unveiled on 18 April. The event will include a performance from the London Contemporary Orchestra inspired by the sculptures, with light refreshments and a chance to meet the people behind the work. Just turn up.
