Open Cockpits at the RAF Museum

YOUNG DESIGNERS: It's your last chance to see Design Museum's Designers in Residence exhibition. Four young designers exhibit their work based on the theme of disruption. £12.40, until 8 March

ARTIST WORKSHOP: Scott Pohlschmidt, painter, sculptor and co-founder of Lavender Hill Studios, is at Leighton House to offer an insight into the different materials that artists use. Learn to stretch and prime the canvas and have the opportunity to varnish a finished work. £35, prebook, 10am-3pm

OPEN COCKPITS: The RAF Museum in Colindale stays open late to allow access to some historic aircraft. Get up close and personal with these machines and experience the collection in a new light. £15.50 (or £41 if you want to access the Vulcan too), prebook, 6.15pm

CHRISTIE'S LATES: Tonight is the first of a series of lates at Christie's auction house in South Kensington, celebrating its 40th anniversary. Enjoy a drink while hearing experts talk about art, interior design and collecting, and see what happens behind the scenes of the UK’s busiest sales room. Free, just turn up, 6.30pm-9pm

HISTORY IN THE PUB: Simon Inglis and Clive Bettington give talks at the Christopher Hatton pub in Holborn on the history of sport in London. This London Historians event is hosted by Londonist's Matt Brown, and includes a mini-quiz with prizes. £5 (non-members)/free (members), prebook, 6.30pm

FILM PREMIERE: Bishopsgate Institute hosts the London premiere of Anne-Marie Sweeney’s film, Going Through the Change! The film reveals how members of WAPC (Women Against Pit Closures) have never stopped supporting other women in solidarity. Followed by speakers including Anne-Marie Sweeney (filmmaker), Brenda Procter (Chair of National Women Against Pit Closures) and Rose Hunter (Joint Secretary of NWAPC). £5, prebook, 7pm

HISTORY SHOWOFF: 10 historians are putting on a benefit gig for Arts Emergency at the Star of Kings in King's Cross. From the people behind Science Showoff, see history experts each give a short talk, which is bound to descend into laughter. £6, prebook, 7pm

MEMOIR TALK: Author Alexandra Fuller is at Lutyens & Rubinstein bookshop to talk about her new book, Leaving Before The Rains Come. It's a follow up to her memoir, Don’t Let’s Go To The Dogs Tonight, which was about her life growing up in Africa. This latest book is about her 20 year marriage to Charlie Ross, the love of her life. £8, prebook, 7pm

HAMMER AND TONGUE: The Book Club in Shoreditch hosts the poetry and spoken word evening, plus an open mic session (sign up on the door). £6/£5, just turn up, 7.30pm
