Bermondsey Bomb Is Taken Away And Blown Up

The unexploded 1,000lb World War Two bomb found yesterday near Tower Bridge has been taken away to the Isle of Grain in Kent and detonated in a controlled — if spectacular — explosion. Whether this destination was chosen by the army because it was one of the potential sites for Boris Island is doutbtful, though one Twitter commentator asked "But what if that quarry in Kent was the German's target all along?!" The army meanwhile were excited enough to tweet "Boom!" followed by the more sober: "Thanks to the public for cooperation & patience".
