68 buildings, structures and developments have been shortlisted for the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) London 2015 Awards. In the gallery above we've cherry-picked our 12 favourites (and you agree with us unequivocally on every single selection, right?).
Among this year's nominees are sights you may well have encountered on your recent rambles — including the tasteful King's Cross Square makeover, and the twisted, metallic Central Footbridge at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Elsewhere, there are some imaginative school designs, and a reasonably sympathetic church extension, courtesy of Matthew Lloyd Architects LLP.
All shortlisters will be assessed by a regional jury, before RIBA announces the overall winners on 18 May at the National Theatre’s Temporary Theatre on the Southbank.
London's regional winners will be considered for a RIBA National Award, which is dished out in June. And if they fare well HERE, designs have a chance to scoop the coveted RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year, later in 2015. The last London building to win that prize was Evelyn Grace Academy, in 2011.
