The absorbing scale model of central London at New London Architecture (NLA) is to be replaced by a new version which will cover a wider area and feature new high-tech features.

The Pipers Models creation extends further west to include Opportunity Areas such as Earls Court, White City and Old Oak Common. The model will show today's London, as well as planned developments; and will include exciting-sounding projections and touch screens. There will also be an interactive digital display system telling the story of the city's development from Julius Caesar to Boris Johnson.

The new model is part of a range of activities marking NLA's 10th anniversary and will be unveiled in April. The think tank on architecture, planning and development in the capital is commissioning two pieces of research: an exploration of the changing nature of public spaces over the last 10 years; and uncovering innovations in how we design, build and finance housing in the capital at scale and at speed.

The model is on permanent display at NLA, The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, WC1E 7BT. Entry is free.
