ANTIQUES FAIR: The London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square is the venue for the Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair. Objects being exhibited include jewellery, paintings, pottery and porcelain, furniture and more. £10 on the door, or print you own free ticket online, until 11 January

BERLIN CALLING: Barbican Cinema's repertory screenings focus on Berlin in the 70s and 80s. Expect films you may well have seen before such as Wings of Desire, through to more obscure gems waiting to be discovered including Decoder and City of Lost Souls. Various prices, prebook, until 29 January

MIME FESTIVAL: The London International Mime Festival, the longest-established event of its kind, begins today. As well as watching the shows there are also opportunities to meet the performers and learn the skills by booking a place on one of the excellent workshops and courses that run throughout. BREAKFAST TOUR: The Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green offers a breakfast tour of its current exhibition Small Stories: At Home in a Dolls' House. Takes place before the museum is open to the public and includes breakfast in the museum cafe. £15, prebook, 9am

FRIEND ZONE: Box Park in Shoreditch hosts The FriendZone, an evening of games and tomfoolery offering everyone a chance to meet new people. Free, prebook, 6pm

ELVIS AT 80: Today would have been Elvis Presley's 80th birthday. To celebrate, Barbican Cinema hosts a talk by Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission and a screening of Viva Las Vegas. £11.50, prebook, from 7pm. FUNDRAISING EVENING: Head to Rich Mix in Shoreditch for a weird and wonderful evening of short film, animation, comedy and live music. A Spot Of Bothy raises money for restoration work on a Victorian bothy in Finchley to transform it into a new Centre of Excellence for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling. £15, prebook, 8pm

Good Cause of the Day

From today until 22 January, the Northbank ambassadors kiosk on Villiers Street (near Embankment) will be collecting unwanted Christmas presents in aid of homelessness charity The Connection. Clothing and toiletries will be put to use at day centres, whilst other items will be sold to raise funds.
