FLOG IT!: Dig those old treasures out of your attic — BBC auction show Flog It! holds a valuation day at the RAF Museum in Colindale. Simply take along up to three antiques and collectables that you might be interested in selling and get them valued by experts for free. 10am-4.30pm

LUNCH LECTURE:  Gresham College's lunchtime lecture focuses on the psychology of doing nothing. Professor Helga Drummond talks about the risks and costs that businesses and individuals incur by avoinding making a decision and instead doing nothing. Free, just turn up, 1pm

VANISHING FOR THE VOTE: The theme of tonight’s talk at the National Archives in Kew is the 1911 census. Despite decades of campaigning, no woman had won the right to vote, so Suffragettes urged women to boycott the census. Free, prebook, 6pm

PLAYWRITING PRIZE: Tonight’s National Theatre Platform marks 10 years of the Bruntwood Prize, the UK’s biggest playwriting competition. Panellists are director Michael Buffong, playwrights Duncan Macmillan (a previous winner of the Prize) and Simon Stephens, and journalists Miranda Sawyer and Matt Trueman. £4/£3, prebook, 6pm

TALK TO ME: This month’s social event, aiming to get strangers talking, is centred around the topic of New Year’s Resolutions. Go along to The Square Pig in Holborn prepared to have conversations with plenty of new people. Free (donations welcome), prebook, 7pm

FOLK RISING: Head to Cecil Sharp House in Camden for Folk Rising, a platform for a new generation of folk music artists to showcase their work. Tonight's performers are Hickory Signals, Jinnwoo, David Roberts and Nick Rasle. £5, prebook, 7.30pm

KENNETH WILLIAMS: Hackney Picturehouse offers an opportunity to see comic performer David Benson performing his semi-autobiographical show Think No Evil Of Us which is all about Kenneth Williams. £10/£8, prebook, 8pm

NAPOLEONIC WAR: Author Jenny Uglow explores the many ways in which the Napoleonic War touched the lives of ordinary people in a talk hosted by the National Army Museum. Takes places at The Army and Navy Club on Pall Mall as the museum is currently shut. £10, prebook, 8pm

OBNOXIOUS FEMINIST: Her words, not ours. Megan Ford takes down the patriarchy with nothing more than sketches, characters, songs and some wigs at the Museum of Comedy in Bloomsbury. £10/£8, prebook, 8.30pm
