This January, blow away the winter cobwebs with daydreams of overseas adventures, warmer climes, sand beneath your feet and bumbag around your waist at Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show.

Offering passionate travellers inspiration aplenty, Destinations flies into the home of inspirational events, Olympia London, on 29 January until 1 February 2015. The show features an array of top travel authors and speakers, over 350 exhibitors showcasing new destinations, travel photography masterclasses and more.

New for this year is the Stanfords Travel Writers Festival, housed in a purpose built auditorium within the event, where visitors can meet and hear presentations from well known explorers, adventurers, food writers, poets, TV presenters and comedians. Headline names are Kate Adie, Simon Armitage, Ned Boulting, Frank Gardner, Tristram Hunt, Griff Rhys Jones, Tim Moore, Richard Parks, Simon Reeve, Chris Stewart and Levison Wood.

Alongside the auditorium there's a ‘Signings at Stanfords’ shop where visitors can get their books personally autographed. You can also pick yourself up something from the pop-up Stanfords Shop, selling guidebooks, travel literature and beautiful maps (our personal favourite).

For destination inspiration, pay a visit to one of the 350 exhibitors. New names this year include Great Rail Journeys, Cox & Kings, and Silver Sea cruises, plus over 70 tourist boards will be present — from Okinawa Convention & Visitors Bureau to Turks & Caicos Islands. See the full list here.

Budding photographers have the opportunity to perfect their skills at a two-hour masterclass with professional photographer Steve Davey, for just £30. Or see the results of great travel photography at the Wanderlust Travel Photo of the Year Gallery, the UK’s biggest amateur travel photography competition.

Other highlights include free expert talks covering every corner of the globe in two Meet the Expert Theatres, the chance to check your vaccinations with a personalised nurse consultation, and new Experience The World stages, where visitors can hear performances from musicians, discover new cultures and sample local foods with free tasters.

Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show takes place at Olympia London 29 January-1 February 2015. Advance day tickets cost £11 and kids aged 12 and under go free. Tickets can be booked online or on 0871 230 7141 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras). Follow venue news online and on Twitter @Olympia_London.
