Best Gigs In London This Week: 15-21 December 2014

Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide picks four of the best up-and-coming acts playing gigs in London this week.

Must Attend

Saturday 20 December:

Tankus The Henge, Jamboree, Cable Street

The mighty Tankus: one of the finest gypsy swing bands in London. This London band formed back in 2009 and have honed their skills playing just about every festival up and down the country. Their front man Jaz Delorean, more a ringmaster than simply a singer, leads his troop of musicians and you, the audience, on wild spinning adventures. Their live show is a high drama romp as the music invites you into their surreal steampunk world. They have built a huge following from their live shows and Jamboree provides a great backdrop for their brand of musical magic. Tickets are £7 available from Jamboree website or £9 on the door. @tankusthehenge, @jamboreevenue

Monday 15 December:

The Last Carnival, The Barfly, Camden

London rock and rollers The Last Carnival have just completed a mini UK tour and are set to release a six track album very shortly. Tickets are £8 available from The Barfly website. @TheLastCarnival, @TheBarflyHQ

Tuesday 16 December:

Type Two Error, Sebright Arms, Bethnal Green

https://soundcloud.com/typetwoerror/type-two-error-looking-back

Type Two Error evolved in the shadows of a dark room where former members of The Cooper Temple Clause (Ben and Kieran) found themselves writing music. This track is so tragically emotive, the vocals are begging the listener to agree with them. Tickets are £5 available on the door. @typetwoerror, @SebrightArms

Wednesday 17 December:

White Fever, Servant Jazz Quarters, Dalston

This week's 'shameless favourite'. This is a new London based four piece and the track above is their debut single release. We loved its swirling pace, beautiful vocals and the way it feels like it has been mixed with love. Tickets are £7 from Servant Jazz Quarters website. @weareWhiteFever, @ServantJazz

Thursday 18 December:

The New Mastersounds, The Borderline, Tottenham Court Road

The New Mastersounds are a four-piece band based in Leeds, who have a new take on vintage soul-jazz, funk and rock. This track reminds us of a theme tune to a 70s family sitcom — but in a good way. Tickets are £12 from The Borderline website. @NewMastersounds, @theborderline
