What do London and Oslo have in common? Not the latitude, for sure.

An army of Norwegian nerds and mavericks are coming here for Oslo Meets Hackney. This one day free event aims to showcase the innovative power of Norwegian start-ups and find their doppelgangers in London, focusing on the tech hub of Hackney.

The event kicks off at The Trampery building, where Londoners can explore what Norwegian tech, fashion and music tech businesses have to offer. Meet the founders of successful Norwegian start-ups and listen to their inspirational stories. Then find out more about the Norwegian fashion scene, with F5 Norwegian fashion space along with the Norwegian Fashion Hub. The first part of the event will end with MashUP Norway, exploring the newest music tech ideas from the Nordic country.

Creative folks can then head to Hackney’s Oslo for an evening of social drinking and networking — we couldn’t ask for a better venue name. The fun kicks off at 6pm with a Silicon Drinkabout, followed by a live performance by Scandinavian band Kid Astray and DJ tunes until late night.

The Silicon Drinkabout is a drinking event for people in the start-up scene: this phenomenon has been rapidly expanding worldwide since its inception, from Dublin to Sao Paolo. Have a taster of the event watching the video below.

Oslo Meets Hackney takes place on Friday 5 December, taking place at different venues. The event is free to attend, to book your place send an email to Siw Andersen at siw@oiw.no
