Just because tequila gave you the hangover from hell about 15 years ago (just speaking 'hypothetically'), that's not to say it doesn't deserve another chance. This is especially the case when given the opportunity to sample an array of quality Mexican fare at the Tequila & Mezcal Fest taking place on 22 and 23 November at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel.

Londoners have developed an insatiable appetite for a taste of Mexico of late, as evidenced by the growing number of brilliant mezcal bars all over the city — and this weekend offers everything from live music, local products (think cheeses and hot sauces) to cracking street food, courtesy of the likes of Condesa. Plus there are bespoke cocktails from Megaro Bar and the team at Amathus.

We feel duty bound to make it clear that this is not, we repeat NOT, a total piss up. It’s an educational exploration, headed up by both the Mexican Embassy and the Mexican tourist board — the latter of which will be on hand for all your inquisitive, holiday-making needs.

To top it off there’s a whole host of cocktail and spirits experts, and masterclasses throughout the festival to guide you through the types of this oft-misunderstood spirit. Yes, there are others besides the cheap one that caused you so much pain all those years ago.
